We offer a range of workshops and one-on-one consultations for baby carrying.  These are available for the Kapiti area.  We bring our own range of carriers and also some other store bought carriers (if requested) to the workshops.

Contact us if you want us to travel anywhere between Wellington and Palmerston North. These visits will incur extra travel charges.

One on One

Standard Consult – 1hr $60

If you are new to baby-carrying or want to work on a specific skill then this is the consult for you.

We will discuss your needs, talk about positioning and safety and look at up to two carriers or one woven wrap carry of your choice.

Antenatal classes

Antenatal Workshop – 2-3hrs $25 per person. Minimum of 6 people.

This includes an overview of baby-carrying, benefits for both parents and babies, newborn physiology, safety and positioning, normal infant behaviour, and a demo of the main carrier types.

There will be weighted dolls for you to try out the carriers for yourselves. Suitable for expectant and new parents, baby showers, playcentre workshops, antenatal classes and anyone wanting to carry children.

Skill based workshops

Skill Based Workshop – 2-3hrs $25 per person. Minimum of 6 people.

Have a group who want to work on a specific skill? Want to learn how to use a woven wrap or learn to back carry?

This is an excellent choice for a group to get together and work on carrier skills. From beginner to advanced.

Example sessions: Intro to babywearing, Intro to woven wraps, Woven wrap front or hip carries, Back carries with woven wrap, Mei Tais, Stretchy Wraps, Soft Structured Carriers.

Professional Development

Professional Development Workshop – 2-3hrs $25 per person. Minimum of 6 people.

This workshop is aimed at professionals working with expectant and new parents, e.g. Midwives, GP’s, Well Child Nurses etc.

This includes an overview of baby-carrying, benefits for both parents and babies, newborn physiology, safety and positioning, normal infant behaviour, and a demo of the main carrier types. There will be weighted dolls for you to try out the carriers for yourselves.

The main objective of this workshop is for professionals to get an understanding of baby-carrying and why it may be helpful for their clients.

2 hour - one on one

Standard Consult – 2hrs $100 (add $40 to have a friend join in)

If you are new to baby-carrying or want to work on a specific skill then this is the consult for you.

We will discuss your needs, talk about positioning and safety, and try out some carriers.

I can either demo the main carrier types with a chance for you to try a couple, or we can spend time learning a specific skill.

This is the perfect choice for those wanting to learn to back carry.

30min - follow up

Follow up Consult – 30mins $30

Once you have got the grasp of your carrier but would like some tips and tricks to make it that wee bit more comfortable or improve on your current skills.

Special consults

Twin Consult – 1.5hr $60

Parents of twins may need extra time so we offer half an hour extra without additional charges.

If you want to learn to carry twins then select this consult.

We will discuss your needs, talk about positioning and safety and look at options for twin carrying using two carriers or one woven wrap carry of your choice.

Prem Consult – 1.5hr $60

Twin parents and parents of prem babies may need extra time so we offer half an hour extra without additional charges.

If you want to learn to carry a prem baby then select this consult.

We will discuss your needs, talk about positioning and safety and look at options for prem carrying using a couple of carriers.

 

3 consultations package

The Full Package – $150 This package includes 3 consultations:

1. Before Baby – this includes an overview baby-carrying, safety, newborn physiology and all carrier types with a brief demo of each, with plenty of time to chat about your family needs. (90-120mins)

2. Once Baby Arrives – in the first few weeks after baby’s arrival. This is all about building your confidence using your chosen carrier.(60mins)

3. Tips and Tricks – around 6mths, once you are comfortable with your carrier you can come back for some tips and tricks to improve or learn a different carry, or try a new carrier. (30-60mins)

Suitable for new and expectant parents, foster parents, caregivers, grandparents, childcare workers and anyone hoping to carry children.
